Banks don't want meddlesome stepmother.

All around the world people are pointing fingers to the banks as the biggest culprits for the current crisis. As a result, vote-needy governments are trying to regulate the sector as much as they can.
Washing their hands in innocence, the banks claim that there is no need for thorough controle and regulation. They warn that the entire economy will pay a high price if the banks are made into obedient lap dogs. Bankers are now demanding intensive dialogue before final decisions are made.
